How we’re investing in communities, causes, and the people who make them stronger
At Halcyon HR, we believe that businesses have a responsibility that extends beyond their immediate operations. We believe that when you’re successful, you should use that success to lift others up. We believe that strong communities create strong businesses, and strong businesses should give back to their communities.
But our approach to community involvement isn’t about writing checks and attending photo opportunities. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and getting involved in causes that matter to us personally. It’s about using our skills, our platform, and our resources to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Whether we’re sponsoring local events that bring communities together, or supporting causes that align with our values, we’re committed to being active participants in building the kind of world we want to live and work in.
This page isn’t just about showcasing what we’ve done – it’s about inspiring others to get involved and showing how businesses can be forces for positive change in their communities.

We’ve all worked for companies that talked about “corporate social responsibility” but treated it like a marketing exercise. They’d write a check to a charity once a year, take some photos for their website, and call it community involvement. That’s not what we’re about.
Our approach to community involvement is personal and authentic. We support causes that our team members care about. We get involved in initiatives that align with our values. We use our professional skills to help organizations and individuals who need support but might not be able to afford it.
We also believe in breaking down the stereotype that HR is the “fun police.” Too often, HR is seen as the department that says no, that creates barriers, that makes work less enjoyable. We want to change that perception by showing that HR professionals can be forces for positive change, both in the workplace and in the community.

We partner with community organisations and businesses to deliver workforce development programs and HR education.
We support initiatives that promote mental health awareness, recognising the serious impact of workplace stress and employment challenges on personal wellbeing.
We partner with schools and community groups to educate future business leaders on HR compliance, workplace culture, and effective people management.
We actively sponsor and participate in local events that bring people together, fostering a strong sense of community while supporting local businesses and organizations.

“I Fight in Flats” isn’t just a catchy tagline – it’s a philosophy. It’s about showing up authentically, without pretense or intimidation tactics. It’s about proving that you don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to be the most effective. It’s about understanding that real strength comes from knowledge, preparation, and the courage to do what’s right.
It’s also about accessibility. Dee doesn’t fight from an ivory tower or behind corporate barriers. She fights in flats – grounded, practical, and ready to meet people where they are. Whether you’re a business owner struggling with your first HR challenge or an employee facing workplace injustice, she approaches every situation with the same commitment to fairness and the same determination to find solutions that work.
Dee’s background wasn’t forged in corporate boardrooms or university lecture halls. It was forged in real-world experiences with injustice, unfairness, and the kind of workplace challenges that most HR textbooks don’t cover. She’s been where our clients are – feeling powerless, uncertain, and wondering if anyone would stand up for what’s right.
But instead of letting those experiences defeat her, Dee used them as fuel. She learned the system inside and out, not from an academic perspective, but from the perspective of someone who needed to understand it to survive and thrive. She developed the skills, knowledge, and courage needed to fight for fair treatment, not just for herself, but for others who found themselves in similar situations.
Today, Dee brings that same energy and commitment to every client interaction. Whether she’s shutting down unlawful terminations, dismantling toxic leadership behaviors, or guiding business owners through high-risk HR situations, she brings sharp strategy, airtight compliance knowledge, and a deeply human approach to every challenge.
But perhaps most importantly, she brings the understanding that comes from having been underestimated, from having been told to shrink, and from having said no to that diminishment. She knows what it feels like to need an advocate, and she knows how to be one.
